Our Story

Children's Village began with a single centre in Toongabbie in 2008.

At the time, our goal was not to build a large organisation. We simply wanted to create a place where children felt safe, families felt welcome, and educators could make a genuine difference in children's lives.

Like many family-owned businesses, we started small. We got to know families by name, celebrated children's milestones together, and built relationships that often continued long after children left for school.

Over time, more families joined our community and our village began to grow.

Today, Children's Village operates multiple early learning centres across Sydney, supporting children and families through their early years while remaining family-owned and family-focused.

It Takes a Village to Raise a Child

We have always believed that children grow best when they are surrounded by people who care about them. Parents and families play the biggest role, but they are not alone. Educators, grandparents, friends, neighbours, schools, local organisations, and the wider community all contribute to a child's development in different ways.

No single person has all the answers, and no family is expected to do everything on their own. Raising children has always been something that communities do together.

That belief became the inspiration for our name: Children's Village.

While every child is unique, every child benefits from having a strong support network around them. Our role is to be part of that network and to work alongside families during some of the most important years of a child's life.

What Does a Village Look Like?

To us, a village is made up of many people.

Families

Families are at the heart of every village.

They are a child's first teachers and know their child better than anyone else. We value the knowledge, experiences, and perspectives that families bring and believe that strong partnerships between families and educators help create the best outcomes for children.

At Children's Village, we encourage families to be active participants in our community. Throughout the year, families are invited to join celebrations, special events, and learning experiences, sharing their cultures, traditions, skills, and experiences with children. These moments help strengthen the connection between home and the centre, while showing children that the important people in their lives are working together to support them.

Educators

Good educators do much more than supervise children.

They build relationships. They notice small achievements. They comfort children when they are upset, encourage them when they are unsure, and celebrate milestones along the way.

We are committed to supporting our educators through ongoing training, professional development, mentoring, and continuous improvement. This helps ensure our team remains informed about current practices, child safety, education, and the changing needs of children and families.

By supporting our educators to continue learning and growing, we can provide children with the highest standard of care and education possible.

Many of the relationships formed in early childhood education become an important part of a child's early memories, and we never take that responsibility for granted.

Communities

A village is not just made up of children, families, and educators. It is made up of everyone who contributes to a child's world.

The communities surrounding our centres help create opportunities for children to experience new ideas, cultures, traditions, and perspectives. They remind children that they belong to something larger than their own family or classroom.

Over the years, we have watched friendships form between families, neighbours become familiar faces, and local communities rally around children as they grow. These connections create a sense of belonging that cannot be taught through a program or activity alone.

For us, community is not simply where our centres are located. It is an important part of the village that helps children feel connected, supported, and valued.
